The synth stepped clear of his vehicle, surveying the empty alleyway ahead of him. The air was thick and hazy, this district being downwind of the industrial lands, though in the distance, the small elevated pinpricks of light through the orange gloom hinted at far of residents, cowering in their homes. The virus had long since cleared this part of the city of anything biological, and the street he found himself in now was no exception, papery N95 masks occasionally drifting down the road on the whim of the wind. Despite it being many years since anything organic should have been able to exist here, the area still seemed to be in use. His synthetic brain whirred as his eyes locked on to one of the items of litter in the road. A bottle of hand soap.
If nothing biological had lived here in ages, why would a seemingly recently discarded bottle of hand soap be here?
He stepped forward, certain he was close to what he was looking for, and, more importantly, his reward for finding it. Or, rather, her.

Avesta looked up at the screen which had just bleeped for her attention. A proximity alarm, accompanied by an image of the synth, a live feed from one of her perimeter cameras she'd set up for just this occasion.
He had to be looking for her. There was no other reason he'd visit such a dead place. It wasn't like she was hiding, either; in her little corner of the city, she was huddled away just enough to force bounty hunters to look for her, but not so much that they'd never find her. After all, she needed them. It was only a matter of time before another one would try and find her, but just as before, she'd leave them with a nasty surprise, and no memory of them ever meeting. More importantly, whoever it was would leave her with a lot more than they planned on giving her.
Her breath echoed in her visor slightly, as she dipped her hands in cleaning fluid, sterilizing them before putting the finishing touches on her plan. The cybernetic augments around her face and chest meant her lungs could handle living in the infested environment, but her claws remained very much organic, and she couldn't risk them being infected now, not when she was so close to achieving her goal.
A smirk lit up her visor as she prepared a USB stick, burning the payload to it, ejecting it safely, and holding it delicately in her raptor-esque claws, tail swishing with excitement. The virus the stick contained was far more devastating than the biological one that had swept through her vibrant village years before. Looking at the shadowy figure of the synth on the proximity alarm as he got closer, she smiled at the cybernetic weapon's next victim.
He looked nice. She'd definitely show him a good time, first....
